What to Bring:
- Volunteers Information Kit (Printable)
- Cleaning Materials such as trash bags (preferably sacks), gloves, sticks, nets, etc.
- Water and Food. Please use reusable water container.
- Pencil
- Printed copy of the ICC Volunteers Data Card (Front and Back) in case the organizer could not provide.

VOLUNTEERS REMINDERS 1. REGISTER Get a copy of the Data Card. Only one data for every group of (5). If you are alone, join a group. You may also opt to use the Clean Swell App instead of the printed Data Card. Note: For those who wants to get a copy of the CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE, kindly leave your name and email address at the registration area or fill-up our online form*. * This is only for all those attending the cleanup at the Lighthouse Marina Resort in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. 2. ENCODE The data you collect will help us identify the type, amount and sources of debris. It will also help influence policy-makers to create sound solutions to the marine debris problem. Please follow instructions when filling up the Data Card 3. MATERIALS Get a sack/container for the trash. Observe proper attire. Wear gloves, hat and closed shoes. 4. INSTRUCTIONS Listen and be guided with the additional reminders during the kick-off ceremony Proceed to cleanup area 5. NOTICE Safety First! Watch out for sharp and pointed objects. Emergency station is located at the registration. 6. DEBRIS Refer to your data card on what debris to record. Use tick-marks and estimation. Do not record natural items such as coconut husk, driftwood, seaweeds and water lilies. 7. EASE Save time by having one member of the group to record collected debris, while others will collect and put them inside a sack 8. REVIEW Go over the data card and look for missing information. When in doubt, ask the organizers/site officers for assistance. 9. SUBMIT Bring your filled sack/containers and data card to the booth. Your collected items will be weighed and segregated by the organizers/site officers. |
SITE CAPTAINS REMINDERS 1. REGISTER Prepare registration tables and tents. Sign up volunteers Accept pre-registration before the event. 2. ENCODE Distribute Data Cards. Have extra pens/pencils on hand. Only one data for every group of (5). If someone is alone, encourage them to join a group. 3. MATERIALS Provide sacks/containers for the trash. Have extra gloves, masks, and other items for cleanup. 4. INSTRUCTIONS Guide volunteers with the additional reminders during the kick-off ceremony. 5. NOTICE Safety First! Inspect cleanup site for a safe conduction of the cleanup. Be prepared for health emergencies and setup an emergency station at the registration. Make sure volunteers know what to do with dead, entangled, or injured animals. 6. DEBRIS Remind volunteers what debris to record. Announce reminders: Use tick-marks and estimation. Do not record natural items such as coconut husk, driftwood, seaweeds and water lilies. 7. EASE Save time by having site officers to assist volunteers on site during the cleanup. Make sure to have areas and assistance with the collection, segregation and hauling of trash for an efficient flow of the cleanup. 8. REVIEW Go over the data card and look for missing information. Assist volunteers with their questions in filling out the data card. 9. SUBMIT Empty sack/containers and get the data card from volunteers. Prepare manpower and areas for the following:

SAFETY REMINDERS
- First Aid treatment is available at the Stations. Ambulance will be on stand-by for further emergencies.
- Only divers and authorized participants will take part in the water/underwater cleanup. Children, students, minors and others will not be allowed into the water at any time.
- Children, students and minors must be accompanied by an adult/guardian/teacher at all times.
- Be careful of sharp objects - broken glass, fishing hooks and syringes. Wear gloves and thick-soled/ closed shoes.
- Do not go near any large barrels or drums. Do not lift anything too heavy.
- Stay out of the dunes and natural areas - bushy areas, as there may be nests. Watch out for wildlife.
- Apply sunscreen, wear hat/sunvisor and drink enough water to prevent heat stroke. Insect repellent will help ward off mosquitoes and flies.
- In case of sudden change in weather, stop work and take cover when there is rain or lightning. Stay away from the water.
- Secure your bags and valuables. Do not leave valuables in your vehicle unsupervised.No horseplaying. The Organizers and event partners will not be responsible for any loss, damage or untoward incident.
BE GREEN
- Do not litter. Help remove it.
- Leave natural items on the beach like driftwood, shells, coral, dead fish and crabs,mangrove seeds and seaweed.
- Do not pluck coastal vegetation and avoid stepping on beach grass and plants, these hold sand and prevent erosion and provide food and home for wildlife.
- Minimise litter, use old plastic bags to hold your trash. Reuse plastic shopping/grocery bags and help cut down on waste.
- Save a bottle, bring along your own refillable water bottle.
